solution, announced at CeBIT 2003 its patent-pending WSG-5000,
a product it describes as a EZ-Hotspot Kit. It's designed
for cash-for-service "hotspot" operation and includes a small

Hot
Spots are areas within public venues such as airports, hotels,
retail stores, convention centers, coffee shops etc. where
patrons that carry a laptop or PDA can gain high-speed access
to the Internet using a wireless technology known as WiFi.
Handlink's
Access Products are aimed at users who wish to provide local
Internet Hotspot connectivity in environments such as Internet
Cafes, Hotels, Conference Facilities, Hospitality Suites and
Airport Lounges.
The
WSG-5000 Wireless PnP Subscriber Gateway acts as hotspot access
controllers and provide plug and play instant Internet access,
advanced security and network management. It supports up to
100 users at one time and have an 802.11b+ access point, a
router, a four-port switch and a wireless subscriber gateway
into a single small-footprint box. The WSG-5000 has full AAA,
billing and receipt capability (Authentication, Authorisation
and Accounting) with its small thermal printer that generates
a receipt with a username and password as well as a predefined
time period of internet access. The WSG-5000 provides easier
hot spot set-up and management for owners and employees of
retail businesses and other potential hot spot locales. ISPs,
value-added resellers and integrators are other potential
customers for it. Setting up and authorizing new users is
a one-button process for a clerk at a hot spot location ?individual
user names, passwords and receipts for limited-time usage
are automatically generated. This eliminates the need for
a remote back-end subscriber management system.
A
one-button compact portable thermal printer connects directly
to the gateway, allowing clerks and cashiers to easily print
receipts with billing and password information. No Boingo,
T-Mobile or CoMeta contracts are necessary. No back-end system
integration is needed - everything is self-contained.
