What is PS-80 designed for?

PS-80 is a routing-based switch, which complies with HomePNA standard 1.0. PS-80 provides users 1Mpbs of transmission on each port under traditional telephone line environment. PS-80 also contains 2 ports for Ethernet 10/100Mbps, which is expandable by two or more switches together through straight UTP cables.

PS-80 uses the original phone lines and co-work perfectly with telecommunication simultaneously. While pluggung into PS-80 as easily as typical Ethernet hub, user's security is guaranteed by isolating from appearing in Microsoft's Network Neighbors.

Furthermore, PS-80 also includes some advanced features such as 'Routing function', 'HomePNA power level control', 'Traffic control', 'Daisy- chain', 'DHCP function', 'NAT function', 'IP filtering', 'Security' etc.

1. What is HomePNA?
The Home Phoneline Networking Alliance is an association of industry-leading companies working together to ensure adoption of a single, unified phoneline networking standard and rapidly bring to market a range of interoperable home networking solutions.

Currently there are more than 15 million homes with multiple PCs per a Dataquest estimate. With homenetworking, their households receive the benefits of simultaneous, shared internet access, printer/peripheral sharing, file and application sharing, and networked gaming. In addition, consumers can enjoy the use of each of these home entertainment and information services using existing wiring in the home.

2. What do I need to set up my HomePNA network?
You can set up your HomePNA network by using the existing in-home phone wiring in your house.

3. What is the difference between a phone line setup and a CAT5 setup?
A home phoneline network uses your existing in-home phone wiring to connect your computers, simply by plugging into the telephone jack from the adapter. An Ethernet network uses standard Category 5 cable and Ethernet hub to connect your computers.

4. How does home phoneline networking work? Will it require any special equipment?
"No New Wires" is the concept of HomePNA networking technologies that are simple to install with direct connection of PCs to the in-home telephone jack.

5. Is 1 Mbps fast enough for home network applications?
1 Mbps is more than sufficient for today's home networking applications.
However 10-Mbps will be available in the near future.
